The Way of the Playa and the Path to Golfing Enlightenment has changed me for the better. As I work on my inner game for golf, so my inner game for life has also been improved.
This is the way to NOT play golf.
In this video, I was throwing mini tantrums, taking on shots I don't know how to play and then getting frustrated at my stupidity more than anything.
What this video does highlight is that if you're not committed to a shot, you make a poor swing. You do NOT HAVE A POOR SWING, you just make them with bad thoughts. The thoughts frustrate you because of the self-sabotaging nature of cognitive dissonance.
You want to play well, but you try to stymie yourself by thinking of failure in your mind. This is a recipe for disaster as you kick yourself for making yourself fail. You must merely align your thoughts with the outcomes and actions you want. If you want to hit a ball to the right edge of the green, think of NOTHING else. If you think of the left edge, step back and re-align your mind.
You can break 80 and break 90 playing high stress golf, but the fun is just not there. It's WAY more fun to be in control of you emotions and actions. This is the mark of a true Playa. In this video, I was not a Playa. I was a prick.
