Thus, choosing the first-foot is very important, it is recommended to find someone who is cheerful, sociable, kind-hearted and successful at work to be the first-foot so as to bring the host a lucky and prosperous year.
This is quite right, for if it were not, no one would have believed it, would they?
Similar to any single month, if the first few days come with bad luck and unfortunate events like losing money, or facing slander, then the whole month can hardly be nice.
