Breaking News US|Australia ll Australian friends bought McDonald's burger almost 25 years ago Two friends who purchased a McDonald's cheeseburger almost 25 years ago say it looks much the same as when they bought it.Casey Dean, 39, and Eduard Nits, 38, were 14 when they went to McDonald's on Anzac Parade in Adelaide and purchased a 'ridiculous amount' of burgers. The then teenagers were not allowed McDonald's as children so when they were old enough to go by themselves, they went overboard.Realising they had purchased too much, they offered to keep a quarter pounder burger for a friend who was visiting from another state. Mr Dean, who now works as a musician and part-time Uber driver, took the burger home and waited for his friend to finally take it back. 'Ed's mum said we were gross,' Mr Dean told Daily Mail Australia. 'However, Eduard then moved to Latvia and we did the official handing over ceremony at my place.'  Casey Dean (left) and his friend Eduard Nits (right) as teenagers  Share this article Share Four years ago Mr Dean and Mr Nits created a Facebook page called Can This 20 Year Old Burger Get More Likes Than Kanye West? to off its progress. The pair were contacted by Channel 10's The Project to speak about the then 20-year-old burger, and gained worldwide attention. The burger is now as hard as a rock and does not smell. When asked about what he thought about the burger not rotting, Mr Dean said he was 'astonished'. 'Honestly astonished – all jokes aside it's crazy,' he said.'It still looks like a couple weeks old.'   It comes after Hjörtur Smárason, from Iceland, claims to have a 10-year-old McDonald's cheeseburger and fries. The meal is currently on display at Snotra Hostel and remains unchanged after it celebrated it's 10th birthday last Friday. 'In 2009, McDonald's closed in Iceland and on October 31st that year, Hjörtur Smárason bought the last McDonald's hamburger in the country,' their website said.'Smárason kept the burger, accompanied by fries, in a plastic bag for three years during which it remained unchanged.'The hamburger, which stills no signs of decomposition is now exhibited at Snotra House.' Mr Dean said he's never been a fan of McDonald's but does the occasional 'Macca's run' while driving Uber and grabs a coffee. 'I do get coffees but I like to hide my face in case they do anything terrible,' he joked.  ● Subcribe:
