Who were the Anunnaki and the Igigi, these are the two questions that have never been fully answered. Both terms are mentioned in the now famous Enuma Elish tales, the ancient Babylonian creation story, which has been preserved for thousands of years on cuneiform clay tablets. According to details found in the various legends, there were 300 Igigi, and they all lived in the Mesopotamian equivalent to heaven instead of the netherworld. Even though the Sumerians wrote them as being real, recent historical accounts seem to have relegated both groups from reality into mythology.
