"Our Little Southern Cottage Farmhouse, Yard, Pond & Small Farm Tour" Built in 1910, our modest little 1100square ft., 2 bedroom, 1 & a half bathroom farmhouse was what I believe to be used as mother in law quarters. During that time, there was a much larger "Main House" at the front of the property that burnt down.
Gary, my husband, bought this house and small farm in 1997 and we have since renovated it little by little over the years since we got married in 2006.
Before we got married we painted and put in the hardwoods, smoothed out the popcorn ceilings, put in new chandeliers with the help of our electrician friend Chuck. We changed out the carpeting and added new base and crown molding.
We then added the front and back porch in 2013. In 2016 we turned the back porch into a dining room and added the screened in back porch as well.
It's been a labor of love and we've slowly fixed it up a little at a time with the help of our buddy Marc and many other contractors!
My style is very minimal. I was inspired by the amish in Ohio (close to where I was born and raised in Chardon) to just live a bit more simply and appreciate and make the most of what we have. I feel like the white walls suite our small cottage style farmhouse home since it opens it up and brightens it. Our house is full of character which I love! I hope you enjoy the house tour!
