Girls Making Their Own Home Made Tiny-house

Girls Making Their Own Home Made Tiny-house The older girls have been making their own home made Tiny-house over the last couple years and have finally moved in!

It started when Sarah was 15, making plans for her house and deciding what type of structure and foundation she would need. At the same time we were building a horse shelter and had installed treated poles in the ground. It seemed like a great idea to build her tiny house on the second level, above the horse shelter.

Chipping away in their spare time the girls framed the walls and finished the roof last year, making their own custom SIP's (structurally insulated panels) and installed standing seam roofing metal. So far this year they've installed second hand windows, their home made wooden door, and milled spruce for the board and batten siding.

This off grid tiny house is super cute and simple. With home made and second hand materials they've kept the cost very low and developed all sorts of new skills. How's that for a real life home school project!?

There's lots more to do; heating, water, outhouse and finishing the inside. We'll be sure to provide an update.

We couldn't be more proud of the girls making their own home made tiny-house. See you later girls!
