Storms will quickly pass through the metro area during the late afternoon to early evening hours lasting less than an hour as they race to the east northeast at 50 mph! There is a slight risk for a severe storm mainly east of the Kansas City metro area from about sunset through the early evening hours. Damaging winds will be the primary threat but all forms of severe weather are possible. After the storms clear our area skies will begin to break up while temperatures fall into the lower 30s by morning. Winds will gust to 40 mph overnight so expect to hear the wind whistling through the bare trees.
