BUGHA SHOWS THE BEST NEW FORTNITE SETTINGS FOR CHAPTER 2 Fortnite Chapter 2: Tips for your first game
Fortnite Chapter 2 is now live with a long list of changes from the old Fortnite. Take a look at some must-know Fortnite tips before you play your first game.

Fortnite Chapter 2 is here to finally soothe our withdrawals after two days of staring at a black hole. By all accounts, this feels like an entirely new game from the “old” Fortnite.

There is a long list of new mechanics, weapons, and locations in Fortnite. Epic, in their infinite wisdom, has yet to release the Chapter 2 patch notes as of this writing – so we’re all just guessing as to the buffs/nerfs/additions/removals/etc.

The lack of patch notes makes sense if you think about it. Epic wants us to experience this as a new game. You don’t look at the patch notes for a new game – you just play.

Well, here are some tips to help you out with your first few games in the absence of patch notes.

Weapon upgrades

One of the new mechanics Epic added to Chapter 2 was the ability to upgrade your weapons. You can find upgrade stations scattered around the POIs in Fortnite, and use materials to craft a better version of your current weapon.

This new mechanic significantly reduces RNG. If you have bad weapons and a ton of materials, you can upgrade to a better option.

Natural healing

Epic removed Splashes, Slurps, mobile Campfires, and Chug Jugs when they released Chapter 2. They nerfed the amount of healing items you can carry but didn’t completely nerf your ability to find healing.

There is a variety of natural healing options in Fortnite. Environmental campfires are still there, and Epic added fishing which usually provides you with health and/or shield. You can also destroy Slurp kegs, trucks, and taps for varying amounts of health.

The number of natural healing items means you should probably wait to drink those shield pots when there isn’t anyone around.

More places to hide

Epic loves to cater to casual players – we all know this. Last season, that meant the overpowered mech that everyone hated. This season, we have skill-based matchmaking and the ability to hide in dumpsters.

Hiding is much more viable in Chapter 2 Season 1. Bushes are massive now, and you can hide in places like dumpsters to jump out and surprise your enemies.

Make sure to watch out for opponents hiding in bushes and dumpsters. This is going to become a much more popular strategy with Chapter 2.

Settings and binds were reverted

Fortnite Chapter 2 loads you right into a match before you ever hit the loading screen. Do you know that scene in the Chapter 2 trailer where the character falls from the sky? Ya, that’s you. You have to play a game right away.

You can always back out of your first game, but true champions play it out and try to get their first win. You should know, though, that all of your settings and keybinds – apart from sensitivity settings for console players – were reverted.

This means that all of your keybinds will be standard when you start. Try to land in a secluded area so you can box-up and fix it before you fight.

Huge mobility nerf

Mobility got hit hard with this patch. If you thought Season 10 nerfed mobility, then you’re in for a shock when you load into Chapter 2.

Epic nerfed nearly everything in the mobility department. The only vehicle in the game is a boat – which does travel on land and is faster than running. Launchpads aren’t even in the game anymore, for Pete’s sake.

This is all to say that you should pay attention to the storm circle. Boats are common, but there’s a greater chance of getting stuck in the storm in Fortnite Chapter 2.
