Some examples of the primary scheme are Padho Pardesh Scheme, Dr. Ambedkar Central Sector Scheme and Central Scheme of Interest subsidy for education loans.

In these schemes, students can avail 100% interest subsidy during the moratorium period (i.e course + 6 / 12 months after the completion of the course). The subsidy is available for the loans up to 20 lakhs only. With this scheme, students can save up to 4 to 6 lakhs per annum for the interest rates of 10%-12%.

After securing admission, approach to the bank of your choice which is IBA approved scheduled commercial bank and request for the processing the application under the particular scheme

Padho Pardesh for minority students with family income not exceeding 6 lakh rupees per annum

Dr. Ambedkar Central Sector Scheme is for EBCs and OBCs (non-creamy layer, as defined by the Central government)

The USP of this scheme is, 50% of its funds for providing subsidy are earmarked for girl candidates.

Central Scheme of Interest subsidy for education loans is for students of economically weaker section (EWS) for pursuing technical/professional courses in India and abroad.

Note: If you are taking a loan from NBFCs then you are not eligible to apply for these schemes.

One of the requirements is the income certificate to apply for these schemes and many students find it difficult to arrange one. The answer is simple, the Revenue Department has SDM under them in all Districts and they are authorized to issue certificates on the satisfaction of the documents provided to them with the application for the same.
