Two Newly Found Asteroids Just Flew Past Earth at 0.1 and 0.5 Lunar Distances The region between Earth and the Moon has been busy this month. Not only one but 3 asteroids passed very close to our planet. Two of them flew past Earth on September 5 and 7 at 0.1 and 0.5 lunar distances. The third asteroid designated 2019 RQ flew past Earth at 0.3 lunar distances on September 2, 2019.

The asteroids were only discovered a few hours before their closest approach to our planet.

41 known asteroids flew past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and 3 so far this month.
