An interesting thing about baby wombats is that in their mum’s pouch they need to take care of their own toileting. So we tend to let our our little hand raised orphans do the same. We just clean up afterwards. And usually it’s a simple clean up. But Duggie got himself into a real mess this time. I was watching him on the “Duggie cam” as this was unfolded thinking “Don’t step in it, Duggie”. But too late. He needed a thorough wash (moistened cotton balls) and a complete change of bedding in his incubator. This is the nitty gritty of being a wombat “mum”.
