Today we are in Spray Valley Provincial Park, in Kananaskis Country, and we will be hiking up to Old Goat Glacier. The trail is 9.5 kilometers, out and back, with an elevation gain of 743 meters. The first 2.5 kilometers is a fairly easy walk through the forest, beside Old Goat Creek. Then you will arrive at a beautiful waterfall. Take a short rest here, because you will be hiking straight up for the next 1.3 kilometers. Here you will have a great view of the Spray Valley. Then you will be hiking up a Lateral Moraine, for 1.5 kilometers to get to the glacier. It’s like being in another world up here. Just mountains, rock and ice. I stayed on the moraine above the glacier, but you can go down to the glacier, there we people sliding down it. It's not everyday you can hike up to a glacier.
