The Often-Overlooked Habit that Creates Successful Leaders

The Often-Overlooked Habit that Creates Successful Leaders The reason you consume so much expert content – articles, videos, podcasts – is because you have a growth mindset. This is a good thing, generally. Though there is something important to caution...

Trevor Noah, in his book ‘Born a Crime’ says this: “Hustling is to work what surfing the Internet is to reading. If you add up how much you read in a year on the Internet – tweets, Facebook posts, lists – you’ve read the equivalent of a shit ton of books, but in fact you’ve read no books in a year. When I look back on it, that’s what hustling was. It’s maximal effort put into minimal gain. It’s a hamster wheel. If I’d put all that energy into studying I’d have earned an MBA.”

I don’t blame you though. Content-creators today are fighting for our attention, so they’ve had to create quick-to-consume content pieces that promise hacks, fast-tracks and overnight results. In turn, it’s easy to start believing that by consuming all these bits of information you’ll gain enormous improvement in your results.

But that’s not really true. Because true change and transformation happens over time, when you engage in a systemised process of development.

This applies in a major way to becoming a successful leader, as mentioned in my video here.
