How Do We Perceive Reality? | Perception of Reality With Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman | Lesson 1, Part 1

How do we perceive reality? This is the principle topic of the wisdom of Kabbalah. The question is how do we, behind the different qualities in a society, in everything and in every place, discover the Creator as a guiding force of nature? How can we see it?

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, we cannot observe the direct governance of the upper force. We don’t attain the Creator Himself as He is concealed. However, through our connection and common efforts, we are able to build a vessel (Kli)—the instrument of perception, in which we can “measure” His qualities as we sense them.

Why is the upper force concealed?

Concealment is an invitation to revelation. By overcoming concealments we attain the perception and sensation of the Creator as the single and only force in reality, referred to in the wisdom of Kabbalah as “there is none else besides Him.” It means that we come to see every incident that we feel in both our mind and heart as manifestations of the Creator: a unique and unified force. Any pictures other than perceiving a single force are attributes of the concealment.

Therefore, our perception of reality depends on our ability to relate every single action or thought, both ours and others’, to the upper force. If we realize that we are in concealment and want to exit the concealment, then we will gain an opportunity to step on the path of revelation, and the wisdom of Kabbalah is the method that was made for guiding us on that sublime path.
