WHY IT COST $1500 TO REPLACE WATER PUMP ON FORD LINCOLN MAZDA 3.5 3.7 ENGINE EDGE, FLEX, TAURUS, MKX Why does it cost so much to replace the water pump on my Ford, Lincoln, Mazda Engine? If you are wondering why some shops charge around $1500 to replace water pump if you have a 3.5 V6 or 3.7 V6 engine that has been used in Ford Edge, Ford Flex, Ford Taurus, Ford Fusion, Ford Explorer, Lincoln MKZ MKX MKT MKS, and Mazda CX-9 and 6S this video will show you why. The water pump is timing chain driven, this means that you have to remove the timing chain to replace the water pump. This is where most of the labor will accumulate and the reason why it is so expensive to replace your water pump. Also, if the water pump is about to be replaced it is recommended to replace the timing chain, tensioners, and guides as well. Some bolts cannot be reused and have to be replaced as well when you put the engine together.
