All hiking trails at Rancho San Antonio Preserve have been closed due to a recent increase in mountain lion encounters. Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District biologists believe a mother mountain lion with cubs may live within the park and instead of hiding from hikers like lions tend to do this group is just causally roaming along within sight of hikers, and a video shows them pretty close, including one of a lion leaping almost in front of the hiker to cross the trail. Biologists are laying out deer carcasses in an effort to lure them away.
