The presence of grace shines as moments without time. Bret Netherton This is simply an attempt to capture a method of exercise that i'm developing in order to lose some weight and improve my overall health. I have studied strictly as a novice Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Cardio Dance and Yoga and have intuitvely started working with what I call an improvised style of movement. There is no discipline or choreography attached to this method. I simply let my body and music or silence lead my routine. I typically take a less intense approach than what the video displays but wanted to add some dynamics to the routine. I often do this with eastern chant or Kirtan.
Just some general considerations. In general this is an experiment in creating a personalized way of moving one's body for overall health and happiness. No rules, only considerations. I like to think of it as part dance, part martial arts, part exercise...and whatever else it might evoke, at any given time. Keep it simple, use slow rounded spacial motions and cultivate it with a low impact approach. The main impetus for this new found passion is to move one's body not as a dicipline but for the shear enjoyment of it. Just let your body move naturally, feeling the push and pull of your anatomy as it animates. Feel the stretches of your muscles and joints. As one way of developing your balance, feel the shift of weight as it transitions from leg to leg. Perhaps most importantly cultivate an awareness of your breathing to develop a gentle, relaxed and natural conection with your movements.
