It is very challenging to stimulate the biceps when you are just throwing weights around. The best way to think of the exercise is to break down the movement into the most simple manner. Think of just raising up your hand. Then add resistance to the extent that you can do so with having your hand be the first body part that moves. That is the trick. If the rest of your body is moving before your hand, then you have two things to work on. You can either lower the weights, or simply attempt to remain disciplined in your body movement. The trick is to not lose focus of what you have to do. Most people just count to ten. We want to make sure that your reps are quality reps. A good place to start is with at least 3 sets of 10 repetitions. This is a start. As you get more sophisticated, you can add more weight.
