G'day guys! When I arrived at the Georges River in this video, I was greeted with textbook perfect conditions! I could not have asked for more and I duly made the most of it by getting stuck into a flathead straight up. It was a weird hookup and my initial thoughts were that I was hooked into a snag but after a few tell-tail thumps I knew that it was infact my quarry.
After a quick self-unhooking, I noticed a big patch of large bait-sized poddy mullet along the edge of the mangroves. They were the perfect prey for any bream or flathead and I decided to work the mangrove edges with my grub lure. After noticing the mullet ball get spooked on a few occasions, I got an instant big hookup along the edge of the mangrove. The bream tried to bury me in the roots but after short and intense tussle, I muscled it out from there.
Another big moment came along another mangrove edge after working the lure along the small overhang. The lure was nabbed again, really quick and fast and right at my feet! Another close quarter hookup and after a few moments of strategic angling of the rod, I had another one up on the boardwalk!
A few more captures where also had but I'll leave that for the video to show you what went down!
