Chinese president will visit Myanmar next week

China's Foreign Ministry says President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Myanmar next week, on January 17 and 18, at the invitation of Myanmar's President U Win Myint. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar. Last month, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi was also in Myanmar where he met the president, as well as State Counselor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi. Both sides agreed on strengthening high-level exchanges to push ties to a new level.
