(6 Dec 2019) During a White House meeting with small business leaders, President Donald Trump celebrated the jobs report that came out Friday, calling the numbers "phenomenal." Trump said the strong economy is due in large part to the tax cuts that were passed as well as his administration's efforts to cut back on federal regulations.
He said as the crackdown on regulations continues, his White House is tackling the issue of energy-efficicient light bulbs and water efficiency standards that lead to slowly trickling sinks and toilets.
Trump complained that the federal restrictions on incandescent light bulbs and their replacement with LED bulbs is making him look orange.
"They got rid of the light bulb that people got used to. The new bulb is many times more expensive. And I hate to say it, it doesn't make you look as good. Of course, being a vain person, that's very important to me. It's like, it gives you an orange look, I don't want an orange look," Trump said.
He said his administration will release the restrictions on incandescent bulbs and consumers will be able to purchase whichever type of bulb they want.
Trump also said the Environmental Protection Agency is looking at water efficiency standards at his suggestion because he said the current regulations are hurting water pressure.
"You turn on the faucet, you don't get any water. They take a shower and water comes dripping out," Trump bemoaned. "People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once. They end up using more water."
He said in certain "desert areas" he would keep the water standards as is but "for the most part, you have many states where they have so much water that it comes down. It's called rain."
