Young volunteers rake leaves, clear brush from yards to help the elderly NEWPORT, Ky. (WKRC) - The yards of many elderly people around the Tri-State are free of leaves and ready for winter thanks to the hard work of more than 2,000 volunteers.

Children from Highlands Middle School were hard at work raking leaves and clearing brush in Bellevue and Newport.

It’s all part of the annual Prepare Affair, which is organized by People Working Cooperatively.

Volunteers helped about 800 homeowners. The evidence of their hard work was piled up at the curb.

The event has been going for more than 30 years in the Tri-State.
