PHILOSOPHICAL PRINCIPLES UNDERLYING THE PROPOSED REMAIN PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE

PHILOSOPHICAL PRINCIPLES UNDERLYING THE PROPOSED REMAIN PROGRESSIVE ALLIANCE In this talk recorded on Sunday November 3, Dr Thomas Daffern outlines the 29 principles and proposals that he feels should be agreed to by all Remain progressive candidates at the forthcoming General Election in the Uk on December 12: Labour, Liberal Democrats, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Greens, SDLP, Sinn Fein, Alliance etc. He puts these ideas forward in a spirit of goodwill for the parties concerned to adopt if they so wish. He believes he has articulated the common values and ideals that bind their opposition to not only the Tory brexit agenda, but also the years of austerity and arrogance and neglect that led to such disaffection with the European political project of integration and peace. Above all this Manifesto is a peace manifesto, pledging to change fundamentally the way the UK gets involved in military conflict, and to shift our thinking away from military aggression to one of constructive diplomatic and mediatory engagement with trouble spots around the world. It also accepts as a fait accompli that whatever happens with brexit and the General Election, Scotland will be becoming an independent nation after their second referendum in 2020. He proposes that we seize this opportunity as the whole UK and not only allow accept this with good grace, but also use it to hold a referendum on whether the rest of the UK wishes to retain its nuclear weapons after Scottish independence has removed them from the Clyde. The Manifesto also proposes abolishing Universal Credit and replacing it with a Citizens Income. This is a visionary and reforming manifesto as powerful in its way as that of the LIberal government that in 1832 abolished slavery. It is also a truth Manifesto, for its proposes that MP's and Lords are legally bound to tell the truth in parliament and if they lie, they immediately lose office and it proposes new legislation for that end. The written text of the Manifesto can be seen here: This talk includes a commentary on each of the 29 paragraphs in depth.
