Article:
According to Forbes, Joker has (or will) become the most profitable comic book movie of all time. This does not mean that it's the highest GROSSING, but in terms how much was spent to make it, it has made the most money of any other comic book film.
This may put the comic book filmmakers on notice in that there is potential in making very very successful adaptations of comic book characters. There's a market for it. I've long suggest that DC should make a film/tv universe that is aimed at mature audiences:
Hopefully the success of Joker will incentivize them to do so. I do not think they need to go the route of simply copying what Marvel has done in making family oriented films. It doesn't even have to be exactly like Black Label (DC Comics), but something similar may not only be great for audiences.. but great for their pockets. This is big news and as a comic book geek, it may increase the likelihood of investments into mature comic book adaptions.
