This was a special video project I made for an assignment for my High School's Drama Club. If I remember correctly, the class was split into several groups of four to five people and we were each assigned a different era of musical theatre to do a kind of history report on.
The area my group got assigned was the 1900s to the 1920s. My portion of the project was to do a compare and contrast of two popular musical numbers from musicals of the era by comparing and older version to a more modernist version.
The songs I compared in this video were "Yankee Doodle Dandy" from the 1904 musical "Little Johnny Jones" and "Old Man River" from the 1927 musical "Show Boat".
