“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus” Hebrews 3:1
We are understanding more and more how the Word of God is a book of hope, which is mentioned over 200 times in the Bible. Our hope assures us that whatever our present condition, God can and will be glorified. Regardless of circumstances, we are never left hopeless.
Hopelessness is a plague in our country. Accelerated rates of anti-anxiety medication, despair and suicide ravage our culture. The answer, as found in Hebrews 3:1, is consider Jesus! If we only look around at what is happening in the world, we cannot help but be anxious and depressed, but if we turn our eyes upward to Jesus, we remain in hope.
The word “consider” found in the above scripture is very strong. “Gaze intently, concentrate on, look until you learn something from that upon which you gaze” – that is how we are to look at Jesus. Keeping our eyes steadfastly fastened on Him, His present help and glorious future, we remain people of hope.
Landmark is a remarkable part of the body of Christ – a place where His Presence is valued above all. And as we consider Jesus, our joy, peace, and hope remain steady, a demonstration of the goodness and power of God to all. Hallelujah!
