Now let's look at the stats

I got a rof of 51 from my vanguard, AND THE AVENGER TITAN

The overheat ratting is about 16 seconds, but honestly it didn't seem very noticeable.

The C-788 ballistic Cannon's DPS is 646 burst, and 601 sustained and yet, still higher than the other current cannons in its class

The C-788 ballistic Cannon Max range is 3,211 meters this is the lowest range out of all size 4 cannons, along with
a oldly low round velocity.

The C-788 ballistic Cannon has the lowest em/ ir signurate for the size 4 cannon family being only 32.6 when idle and radiates 93.2 per shot.

Now the disadvantages.
Ammo, ballistics in general mean you have a limited amount of ammunition, so until the vulcan and other rearming ships come into the verses you will need to land and rearm

since you have a lower range, if you are taking on larger ships that can out gun you run the chance of fighting critical ranges.

And the final disadvantage is the fact you have to go to arc corp to purchase them however you purchase most weapons there so this is just an inconvenience over anything really

Now as for my own thoughts on the The C-788 ballistic Cannon,

Id say for the new player it may not be for you, small ships that can fit it, you can only use it fixed, unlike the vanguards that can use them gimbaled. Im suprised how the price came out compared to the competitors, but we are still yell within the testing phase so expect this to change over time.

Even for me who enjoys the The C-788 ballistic Cannon, the main issue I cant get over is the rof combined with the poor weapon velocity. While the weapon description says it can take on larger ships, i feel like the combine needs a tiny velocity increase.

For the new player if you want to try them out, get them in AC and rent them, for the seasoned Vet, if you plan on taking on a bigger ship like a connie in bounty hunting missions and you can use the gun, give it a try,

My combat style allows me to use this cause I have the harbinger that uses this cannon on the front, Even if this changes I will swap it out with this. However honestly if you are talking larger ships it might just be better to use a fixed size 5.

Where i see the The C-788 ballistic Cannon being used it countering other medium sized ships like a freelancer or cutlass

While it can also be effective against smaller targets

it also comes down to player preference. Because it is your choice.
So again, make sure you are comfortable with them before you put down the dough to purchase this.
