Hunt Palmer joins Off the Bench to talk LSU football and their upcoming tilt against Auburn. “This team’s got a chance to be really good,” Palmer said. “Get to the stadium (Saturday).”
Auburn’s offensive strategy is going to be heavily ground-based, Palmer said.
“(Auburn wants) to run it 50 times if they can,” Palmer said. “That plays right into the teeth of LSU. I like how LSU matches up with Auburn’s offense.”
The upcoming game is going to pose a challenge to the offensive line, Palmer said.
“I think Auburn’s got the chance to slow down LSU again,” Palmer said. “It’s a different challenge than Florida. It’s just a bunch of big, grown dudes (on the defensive line). These are men in the middle of that line.”
LSU has a good chance to keep Joe Burrow upright throughout the game, Palmer said.
“You’ve just got to trust Joe to know where the pressure is coming from,” Palmer said. “Auburn’s secondary is not quite what Florida’s is.”
Palmer says that LSU has enough weapons to surpass the Auburn defense.
“You can’t neutralize this whole offense,” Palmer said. “It’s not doable.”
The ball is in Auburn’s court in terms of how they plan to stop the Tigers, Palmer said.
“Last week, we saw, very clearly, the effect that LSU’s offensive prowess has on the other team,” Palmer said. “The question is, what does Gus do?”
Cade York’s production is somewhat concerning, but has to do with mechanics, Palmer said.
“I so sympathize with him,” Palmer said. “It felt like me on the driving range (last weekend).”
LSU Basketball’s future looks strong, but unfamiliar, Palmer said.
“I think they’re going to be good,” Palmer said. “I worry about the rim protection a little bit. (The offense is) going to look a lot more different.”
