Soundless footage of the first African Journalism Institute seminar held at Lagos University. The Institute had been formed by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) so as to arrange short-term specialised training for journalists throughout Africa.
This was the first of three such seminars; the first two in English with Lagos being the venue of the second and a French-speaking one to be held at the University of Abidjan in the Ivory Coast.
Present at the seminar were: Dr. Saburi Biobaku, Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos; Mr. Gabson Akinsete, the Administrator of the Institute; Alhaji Babatunde Ajose, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Daily Times; and Cyprian Ekwensi, the writer who was also the Director of the National Ministry of Information.
