[WR] E01-Obstacle | 43.66 by riolu! (+ illegal memes) riolu on a fullspeed map?!?!??????????
Correct, the recent TMNF Nadeo hype has pushed me beyond my comfort zone and I'm trying maps I normally wouldn't have attempted. A good thing!

I decided to tackle E01, which was the 3rd oldest TMNF Nadeo record at this time. A fullspeed map with loops, walls and tubes that requires a good amount of knowledge as to how to approach such blocks at this high speed. Flat lines, smooth angles, accurate steering and grip management are the four key aspects here.
This is honestly not even a bad map if it wasn't for the super random first loop which bugs 9/10 times. There isn't a lot I can give along your way except for countersteering in the air to stabilize the car. Optimally, you want a speed of 347+ at the CP after the loop. 348's and 349's happen occasionally and I've had three INSANE 350 speed loops that had the potential for a .5x on this map. More on that later.

After successfully surviving the start, the following walls need to be taken as low and as flat as possible. Since there's a gap in the wall at its exit, you need to pick your line wisely as you want to land as early and as smoothly as possible on the other side of the wall. After the landing you need to manage your grip by actively steering downwards in order to prevent the car from sliding.
Following up there's another wall that requires a similar approach than the previous wall (as flat as possible with the earliest possible landing after the gap).
A crucial section is coming up right after that. The tube is very gimmicky as it requires a very specific approach and optimal grip management as you go upwards and downwards. The fact that the exit is blind doesn't make it any easier but you develop a feel for it sooner or later.

The part that destroyed most of my good starts is the mid. After exiting the tube, there's the straight jump through the rings into the next loop. A perfectly timed release is required, which a) forces a nosedive and b) makes you land JUST in front of the loop. Landing bugs happen frequently, even with a smooth looking landing. Preserving optimal momentum is crucial because you will carry that speed through the rest of the map.
The pain doesn't end with the loop though because there's another tube right after that which is even more precise than the first tube.
Once again, grip management is super important and you need to work with countersteers as you drive downwards in order not to slide. Very annoying part as the entry into the tube can also be quite bumpy from time to time, depending on your angle.

For the final section, flat and low lines through the wall and a low jump at the end are required. Not too difficult on paper but I fucked that up often enough xD

About the run: I am relieved that I finally got this WR after trying this on-and-off for 5 days or so. This one really took a toll on me and I'm not quite happy how long this one took considering the amount of WR-ready runs I had in my pocket.
Anyway, there's still a good amount of potential left to be found on this map. Neither the start nor my mid in this run were anywhere close to my best sectors, my entire time gain came from the wall after the 2nd tube and above-average remaining sectors. Safed the shit out of the last jump and it easily lost me 0.04 - which in hindsight is quite unfortunate xD
A .5 is definitely doable and I'd push for it if needed.

Also, cut isn't possible guys.

Shoutouts to Kornelius and Piotrunio for the memes.
