Our patient explains that when he lost all the weight, his gyno looked worse! This is very common. In fact, gyno patients often keep on or gain extra weight to make their chest “fit” the rest of their body. In his experience, Dr. Caridi has noted that patients who gain an excess amount of weight typically form gyno in the chest. What he thinks happens is when excess weight is held in the chest, hormones that are indigenous in the fatty tissue in that area become imbalanced thus causing gynecomastia. This hardness doesn’t go away even with weight-loss. Surgical removal of the gland is required to get rid of the gynecomastia.
The number one thing patients say who have had their gyno removed is that they wish they had done it sooner. People need to be careful when they read or hear things that say you can rub a cream, drink a drink, or do an exercise to get rid of it. This is just not true. There is money to be made on this vulnerable group of consumers: the market will fill you with wonderful success stories, enticing photographs, great testimonials and provide you with hope. The reality of the situation is entirely different. As has been learned time and time again, gynecomastia will not go away without effective surgical procedure from a qualified and experienced gynecomastia surgeon.
