✍ A suspect has died in a police shootout after plunging nine stories from the balcony of a beachfront condominium.Russell Mallette, 38, died early on Monday in the dramatic shootout at the Ocean House condos in Gulf Shores, Alabama.Police say that Mallette, a resident of Sparks, Nevada with a history of public intoxication and DUI charges, was pulled over in a traffic stop at around 4am.The officer had a brief conversation with Mallette and suspected he was intoxicated, but Mallette sped away from the stop, Gulf Shores Police Sergeant Jason Woodruff told AL.com.The officer chased Mallette a short distance to the nearby Ocean House condos, tackling the suspect in a physical fight as he exited his vehicle, according to police.
