It rained heavily this morning 04-Aug-2019 but God ensured the sky cleared an hour before baptism was to be carried out. 2 adults and 3 babies were baptised today. 1 adult received the holy spirit yesterday - a day before his Water Baptism. IS IT BIBLICAL TO RECEIVE HOLY SPIRIT BEFORE WATER BAPTISM? Many church denominations teach that the Holy Spirit is automatically received upon Baptism - water baptism. This has led to many Christians believing that they have received the Holy Spirit and do not understand the difference between water baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit. When Cornelius of Caesarea, a devout man and one who feared God (Acts 10:2) asked for Simon Peter to come to him, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the Word (including Cornelius). They were later baptised.
Acts 10:44-48
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
