NMC Act explainer: Why were doctors up in arms The National Medical Commission Act which will replace the scam-tainted Medical Council of India provides for national entrance test — NEET — along with common counselling for MBBS and a common final year MBBS exam, to be known as National Exit Test (NEXT). The act will apply to all institutes, including those of national importance like AIIMS. Past few weeks saw protests from doctors led by Indian Medical Association regarding multiple provisions of the bill.
