Catherine Tyldesley used to 'shy away' from dancing as size 22 teen She is one of fifteen celebrities competing on the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing.And Catherine Tyldesley has now revealed that she used to 'shy away' from dancing when she was younger as she 'lacked confidence' as a size 22 teenager.The former Coronation Street star, 35, has candidly spoke about her weight loss in the past - dropping seven dress sizes to an 8-10, and the actress has vowed to let go of her 'childhood inhibitions' on the BBC One series.Talking to The Sun, Catherine said: 'I've always wanted to learn to dance. It was something that I shied away from when I was younger. 'I was terrified of it. I was much bigger, so I didn't have the confidence.'Catherine has spoken openly about her weight loss battle in the past, telling The Mirror in 2013 that she was motivated to shift the pounds after being cruelly told by a director she was 'too fat' to play a leading lady. Tipping the scales at 15 stone and a size 22, Catherine's weight plummeted in her 20s leaving her a size 12, and following the birth of her first child Alfie in 2015, the brunette beauty lost another two stone leaving her a size 8 to 10. Catherine's revelation comes after she exclusively told MailOnline that she used to 'avoid' dancing as she didn't feel 'comfortable'.    Speaking at the 2019 Strictly Come Dancing launch, which took place at Television Studios on Bank Holiday Monday, the star also gushed about her excitement about being part of the show and the journey ahead.  When discussing her dancing capabilities, the beauty shared with MailOnline at the event: 'I used to avoid it I was never comfortable dancing.'Sharing her excitement of being in the line-up, the brunette told: 'It's amazing. It's magical everything about this show is magical and we've only been here five minutes! I'm just so excited for what's to come!'Catherine, who danced on stage at the event with fellow celebrity James Cracknell, 47, also opened-up on how her son Alfie, four, who she shares with her husband of three years Tom has been helping her get ready for the show. She told: 'It's so exciting me and my little boy just dance around the kitchen just letting our inhibitions go and just going for it.'
