Taking the Narrow Path “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Matthew 7:13-14 (NIV)
God's direction is simple. Take the narrow path that will lead you through the small gate. What provisions will you need? Sturdy shoes and clothing? Bandages? A backpack full of food and water? Perhaps, just your Bible?
What is on the other side of the gate, well...those are your blessings. Notice that the scripture says, "But small is the gate and narrow the road." God never said the journey would be easy. God also never said it was impossible. God did say that only a few find it. Why is that? People have a tendency to take what is faster, easier, and right in front of them, rather than journey into the unknown with God. With faith, you can go to many new places and have unforgettable journeys in your life with God. God does promise that through a life with Him, you will have everything you need for a good life. Have you traveled that narrow path and entered the small gate yet?
Let us pray...
Heavenly Father, we ask that You show us the narrow path more clearly and give us the strength to trek through whatever obstacles we find on this path, until we reach the small gate. Father, give us energy, excitement, and inner peace as we squeeze through that small gate. Let our eyes see clearly, the beauty and wonder of our lives, so we may appreciate all that we have. We ask this all in Jesus' name. Amen.
