Beenox pls I tried hitting the ramp at as many angles as possible to see what triggered the jump animation, so some of these jumps may seem stupid but I wasn't sure what to do to get it done so I was trying everything.
I hit R1 at the top of every single one of these jumps as well, and every time I tried the original CTR method of making the shortcut, I failed. It seems to me that the most "consistent" method (roughly 50% for me) of doing the shortcut is by jumping directly at the tunnel and hitting R1 at the last possible frame of your kart still being on the pipe. The timing is nearly frame perfect.
Even if you do make the shortcut, there's a very high chance you'll nearly hit the ceiling and completely fly over the turbo pad. Which makes the turbo pad nearly pointless.
My suggested fix for this, is to get rid of the scripted jump event for being at the top of the pipe, and restoring the original method of being able to hop at the top of the ramp with high speed and make it. Either that, or extend the timing window of the scripted jump animation so that its not so unforgiving, and reduce the height of the succeeded jump animation so you actually hit the turbo pad consistently. In the original CTR, you would almost never be able to jump high enough to miss the turbo pad.
