Paying It Forward | Maintaining Historic Wilderness Trails In Northern Canada

Paying It Forward | Maintaining Historic Wilderness Trails In Northern Canada Maintaining the historic Ojibway portage trails through Woodland Caribou Provincial Park

Each May for the last 6 years, we put together a small group of volunteers to head into the back country of Woodland Caribou Park and the surrounding forests in an effort to do our part in keeping these important and historic trails open for all to use. Given that we make our living in this park, this is the least we can do to give back!

This past weekend the effort began in the rain as we surveyed the winter damage that seems to always occur in these Boreal Forests. Over the next 2 weeks, we'll visit dozens of portage trails, clearing the way for paddlers and adventure seekers that choose to come and explore this incredible wilderness. It's hard work, but good work, giving us a sense of accomplishment, and paying it forward for others.

Hopefully this inspires others to get involved wherever they may be!

Enjoy!
