Iran's Khamenei Pushes Iraq To Ensure U.S. Troop Withdrawal 'As Soon As Possible'

According to a report by Reuters, on Saturday, Iran's top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to ensure that US troops withdraw from the country 'as soon as possible.' Iranian state media quoted Khameni saying, “You must make sure that the Americans withdraw their troops from Iraq as soon as possible because expelling them has become difficult whenever they have had a long military presence in a country." The statement came as the country moved to evacuate more towns and villages threatened by floods following heavy rains in the southwest. Reuters reports that the death toll from flooding has already risen to 70.
