There are a variety of striking tools that the "Hitter" can use for conventional forcible entry, including: A Flathead Axe, a Sledge, a Maul as well as some of the "New Age" tools like a Pig, Bad Axe and the Zico Z-Shlammer (just to name a few) - However one of the BIG advantages of using a traditional 8 pound Flathead Axe is the ability to use the axe blade as a giant wedge. This not only helps to hold the gap, but it can also allow the axe to be used as a "Leverage Block" - Which can provide a platform for increasing the gap when using the Adz or Fork of the Halligan Bar. In this video Mike Perrrone and Mike Hopko demonstrate both these methods on the Multi-Force Forcible Entry Simulator.
